Day - 3 - Playing the Palace
After lunch and a mandatory rest period, the young men left for the Salao nobre do Centro Cultural da Justica Federal. This building was originally the Justice Department, but now looks like many modern opera houses. The walls are frescoed and have tiled murals. There are ornate sculptures on the side with paintings on the ceiling with themes such as art and justice. The crowd was responsive and gave the boys several standing ovations and 2 encores. We also had the pleasure of listening to Dorothy Paige-Turner resplendent in a Carmen Miranda-esque dress.
We then were treated to the best Churroscoeria in all of Rio, Mario'’s. He stated that he would not cut his hair unless one of his restaurants failed. Consequently he now has several restaurants and very long hair. The trappings inside were fantastic and the food was spectacular. The highlight of the night for the boys was the bathroom which had hot rocks to pee on and steamed when they used it. Boys will be boys.
